A Villa Med insere-se numa área urbanizada entre a Praia da Luz e Burgau, em Lagos. O desenho de implantação obteve-se de forma natural, mimetizando os alinhamentos preexistentes do plano urbano e fundindo-se num design com linhas de tensão que dialogam entre si e conferem identidade e personalidade ao projecto.

Simple lines and geometric shapes were adopted, inspired by Mediterranean architecture, favoring the use of natural materials, such as stone and white walls.

The primacy of privacy presided over the architectural proposal: in this context, cobogós were used, which allowed the entry of light and natural ventilation, contributing to the sustainability of the building and protecting the interior space. In the same sense, a solution was conceived in which human living develops in the inner axis of the building, in social areas, both internal and external. The orientation adopted also aimed at protecting the prevailing winds in the region and to value sun exposure.

The generous spans frame privileged views of the house, harmonizing it with the proposed landscaping. The architecture of the house allows total openness between the inside and outside, the paths have been designed to provide the user with sensations of discovery between light and shade, full and empty.

On the roof, facing South, there is a terrace area, which recreates the picturesque “açoteias” typical of the Algarve, combined with the comfort of a contemporary lounge, allowing the user to enjoy the sea view.
